Compliments of Don Yoncé

There was no us, but there was love.

There were no words.
Half smiles and half hugs
Bad jokes in between the
Sounds of the crickets and
Bug bites and just, silence.
Impetuous emotion,
Sadness and disappointment
Feeling of love lost
Abandonment of the old us
That never did quite happen
But oh, we were so close
To being close.
But there was love.
It was unspoken and concealed
Tough and  Unforgiven--
And forgiven.
There was no closure.
Unchanged brokenness
Childlike loneliness
Voided, avoided, misplaced--
Replaced.
There was acceptance and
Understanding...
There was growth and serenity

There was no us but there was love.

If ever I thought anybody could find the words I couldn't, I'd pray it was someone I love. My prayers are answered a lot.
